In die casting process, molten metal is injected into a mold through a narrow hole of a plunger (piston) sleeve at high temperature, speed, and pressure. This repetitive injection accumulates stress and friction on the plunger tip and sleeve and wear progresses. The worn-out tip and sleeve have to be replaced and it frequently stops the operation of equipment, lowering productivity.
Therefore, proper lubrication extends the life cycle of a tip and a sleeve and prevents low productivity and several mechanical failure in advance.
ALUB¢ç series plunger lubricant forms uniformed protective film on the surface of a tip and a sleeve, minimizing the creation of harmful substance to environment and thus maximizing the life cycle of equipment. We do not stop here, but keep focusing on R&D work to provide better and more perfect plunger lubricant.
- Improving working condition: exhaust, soot
- Excellent mechanical preservation
- Forming uniformed film and increasing film strength
- Minimizing effect on castings: exterior coloring, inner/external air bubbles
Our plunger lubricants consist of oil, water-soluble, and graphite-added plunger lubricant in type. Graphite possesses key lubricating properties and can be appropriately mixed with water or oil. ALUB¢ç series graphite-type plunger lubricant is designed to minimize precipitation, so it lasts long at the state of very uniformed mixture.
ALUB¢ç series water-soluble plunger lubricant is manufactured with eco-friendly raw materials and brings safety to a working condition vulnerable to fire. In addition, it reduces the generation rate of gas, which is universal to plunger lubricant, considerably, so it excellently works for failure due to the interior/exterior air bubbles of a casting. Not only that but also it has an excellent lubricating property, thanks to the use of innovative materials, through a perfect design of the components for lubrication and special manufacturing method.
Developmental goal of water-soluble plunger lubricant
- eco-friendly
- improved safety from fire
- minimum generation of gas
- minimum smell and soot
- improved lubricating precision
Flame Field-Comparison Test

This is the picture taken in a filed comparison test to compare the occurrence of flames at the moment that plunger lubricant drops into a sleeve and molten metal is injected. As for oil-based plunger lubricant, it was confirmed that our oil-based product had much less flames and their sizes than the competitors. Our water-soluble plunger lubricant, as seen in the picture, alternated with mere flames intermittently and none.
Exhaust Comparison Test
The picture is about exhaust comparison test with ALUB¢ç oil-based plunger lubricant (the first to the left) and water-soluble plunger lubricant (the second to the left), and 6 competing products. When compared with the competitors, it is observed that both of our products have considerably lower generation of exhaust.
Cased of Improved Inner Air Bubble

It is very serious failure that the section of a casting, which requires inner air tightness, has inner air bubble as seen.
HJS keeps directing its effort to develop a better high-performance plunger lubricant, listening to customers' opinions and feedbacks.
